Infinite Museum Artist Residency 2026
The Infinite Museum Artist Residency 2026 took place over four days at Seaview Colonnade, Sutton-on-Sea.
Over the residency, a cohort of selected artists worked together to design and build a shared virtual environment, a new room within the Infinite Museum. The content was shaped by the group’s ideas, interests and artistic practices, with support from MBD’s creative team.
Infinite Museum is a multi-person Virtual Reality experience structured as a virtual museum. Each ‘room’ hosts a short, immersive experience inspired by local stories and shaped by artists and communities.
This residency was collaborative and experimental – it offered time and space to explore immersive and spatial storytelling, through image, sound, performance, film, installation, writing or even socially engaged practice.
During the residency, artists had the opportunity to explore:
- Immersive storytelling in VR and 360° video
- Virtual Reality tools
- Unreal Engine world building

“We had a great time with local artists during the 2026 Infinite Museum Artist Residency at the Seaview Colonnade in Sutton-on-Sea. The backdrop of the waves and East Lincolnshire shoreline, visible directly outside, greatly influenced the work created both visually and narratively. Bringing artists together to explore locally inspired immersive storytelling is always exciting and we were blown away by the overall narrative, visual style and performative elements of a new story for the Infinite Museum experience, and can't wait to bring it to audiences later this year.”
