We are reaching out to heritage organisations across South and East Lincolnshire to be part of the next iteration of our Arts in Heritage programme.

About the programme

Arts in Heritage aims to forge connections between local creative practitioners, heritage sites, organisations or places and people with heritage stories, traditions or research, to tell tales from across Lincolnshire in new and innovative ways.

Following the first round over the last year, where the majority of applications came from artists, the latest phase will support three heritage organisations, alongside Spalding.

Gentleman’s society to become commissioning-ready, and fund four artists to create new work inspired by your rich history and place.

Three successful applicants from the South and East Lincolnshire will be selected to take part in a programme of lively and informed workshops. The programme includes skills exchanges, toolkits and case studies alongside a visit to an artists’ studio, meeting with art curators and learning from a new peer group from across the region – all led by national commissioning organisation Arts&Heritage.

Participating heritage organisations will receive £500 to cover direct costs, travel and expenses and will manage a £5,000 artist commission supported by Arts&Heritage (www.artsandheritage.org.uk) and Spalding Gentleman’s Society, with PR and marketing support supplied by the Story Tellers programme.

We will also provide a filmmaker and photographer to document your commission.

Who can apply?

Museums or heritage sites who may not have commissioned an artist before and have the capacity and enthusiasm to be part of the programme . heritage site could be a garden, a church, a collection or a place that is important to the local community in some way. Preference will be given to small and medium sized museums and organisations – and we need a named person who is keen and able to fully participate in the programme and lead the work with the artist. The final selection will be balanced to ensure a spread of geographical locations and a breadth of histories.

This is a competitive programme that is stimulating, enjoyable and results in a unique work that creatively tells the story of you collection, place or community in a new way.
