The Floor Is Yours: A New Community Arts Project in South Holland

The Floor Is Yours is a new community arts project being delivered by Tappin’in, bringing people across South Holland together through music, dance, movement and storytelling.

Commissioned by Story Tellers, Tappin’in will work with communities across South Holland to create opportunities for local people to share their stories, memories and experiences through creative activities.

The project will explore how music, dance and storytelling can bring people together, while celebrating the people, creativity and stories that make South Holland unique.

A celebration of South Holland stories

The Floor Is Yours takes inspiration from Ron Diggins, the inventor of the pioneering Diggola mobile disco system. His story provides a starting point for exploring the ways music and shared experiences can connect people across generations.

Throughout the project, Tappin’in will work with local people, creatives and community organisations to develop creative activities that give people the opportunity to contribute their own stories, memories and ideas.

The project will build towards a large-scale community performance at the South Holland Centre on Sunday 18 April 2027, bringing together music, dance, storytelling and creative contributions from communities across the district.

There will be opportunities to get involved throughout the project, with pop-up activities taking place in Spalding during 2027.

You don't need to be an experienced performer or storyteller to take part. Whether you have a story or memory you'd like to share, enjoy music and movement, want to try something creative or simply want to meet people in your community, there will be opportunities to get involved.
