Infinite Museum

An immersive VR project combining community voices, heritage, and technology to preserve local stories and build creative skills, delivered in collaboration with MBD.

What is Infinite Museum?

Infinite Museum is a multi-person Virtual Reality experience centred around a virtual museum that transports audiences into different moments, stories, and environments. The project brings together community co-created content, with support from MBD to explore local heritage through immersive storytelling.

Upcoming ‘Infinite Museum’ activities

The project launched with an initial focus on stories from Spalding, drawing on themes connected to The Spalding Gentlemen’s Society and Ayscoughfee Hall & Gardens. The first year of the project saw the creation of four short VR experiences, accessed from the museum’s virtual foyer, including a youth co-created Cabinet of Curiosities and a VR poem co-created with local artists, highlighting MBD and Story Tellers commitment to engagement with young people and local communities.

Community participation underpins the Infinite Museum project, with young people and local artists contributing to the development of new content through workshops, artist residencies, and collaborative storytelling.

Since creation, the work has been exhibited at schools, festivals, and community venues to bring the stories of Spalding to new audiences.
