About the event
This October, Lightwaves: Lumens of the Lost comes to Sandilands, bringing an evening of illuminated art to the Lincolnshire Coast.
As dusk falls, join a magical trail of light, sound and glowing birds and butterflies. Meet curious characters and help a flock of illuminated birds migrate along the seafront and across the Sandilands site in this enchanting experience for all ages.
Set off on a guided journey accompanied by your very own bird host. As you stroll together, you'll come across poetry, music and sound and encounter glowing birds, butterflies, illuminated artworks and unexpected characters.
Perfect for adults and families, this is a gentle adventure filled with wonder, music and light.
This free experience lasts approximately 45 minutes and covers approximately 1 mile.
Join us in Sandilands for an evening of creativity, discovery and light.

About Lightwaves
Inspired by the ancient submerged forests that once stretched along the coast, Lightwaves explores the stories, memories and landscapes that connect people to this place.
Discover illuminated installations and soundscapes, experience new creative work and see familiar surroundings in a completely different light.
Lightwaves will travel through Spilsby, Chapel St Leonards, Sandilands and Sutton-on-Sea, with each location adding its own chapter to the story before the journey culminates in Sutton-on-Sea.

Lightwaves has been developed by Story Tellers, the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership’s Arts Council England-funded National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) project, with support from the East Lindsey Investment Fund. A £20 million scheme launched in 2024 by East Lindsey District Council to improve life for everyone in the district.
The project has been developed in collaboration with creative partners Sessions Arts and features a new artist commission by SDNA.
